AmareWolf - Xenochimera

BYOND Key: AmareWolf

Species you want to apply for: xenochimera

Name of Characters In-game: (If applicable) Max

How long you've been playing Vorestation: about two weeks

What is this character's backstory?: The xenochimera cell colony that would one day come to be known as "Max" started it's lifecycle like almost every other discovered xenochimera's, as a hitchhiker upon a chunk of stellar matter hurtling through the void. For how long that cell colony traveled the black abyss no one can rightfully say. So for the sake of producing a reasonable chronology we will focus on the events of what it's life on Floris 247[A Remote Colony] was likely to consist of. Life for Max on Floris 247 would have started with a tremendous show, as whatever bit of stellar debries his colony clung to entered the planets atmosphere. How long Max roamed the wilderness of Floris 247 before being discovered by the mineralogical survey team is unknown, but suffice it is to say that by the time of Max's presumed first encounter with sentience it had already consumed some number of local herbivores and at least one of the local drakeoid apex predators as can be ascribed to the initial visual evidence gathered by the surveyor pair. [Display graphic insert of a creature resembling a local long haired bovine with draconic influences present in a set of useable wings, ridge of horns and clawed forepaws.] Initial contact with the then as yet unkown xenochimera was reported as having been very positive, with the creature having been reported to have acted very docile and even friendly to the pairing. Thinking they had discovered a new cryptid life form one of the surveyors volunteered to remain with his griffin mount and look over the new find while his partner returned to the main encampment to gather the bioscience team with suitable equipment to contain the newly discovered life form. What exactly happened in the hours between the time the surveyors partner left him and the time the combined team returned to the site is largely a matter of conjecture.
What is known is that when the team returned to the site the scene that awaited them was a grim one. The makeshift camp was in shambles and there seated in the middle of the destruction was the bloated form of the xenochimera, now sporting the head of a griffin dangling from it's open beak was the frantically flailing legs and vigorously thrashing tail of the vulpakin surveyor that had stayed behind to watch over the creature. Shocked into inaction by the sight the team merely looked on in shock as the xenochimera made a final great swallow pulling the surveyor into it's gullet, the last anyone would every see of him was the tuft of fur as it was slurped into the chimeras beak. As the writhing form of the surveyor settled into the xenochimera's belly reaction came swiftly from their partner who pulled a frontier phaser and opened fire at the creature, striking it twice, once amongst the wobbling torso and the second shot neatly severing the creatures draconic tail. Preparing to fire again the second surveyor was dragged to the ground by her bioscience colleagues as they finally moved into action deploying capture guns to net the creature. Demands to be released so that they might save their mate went unheeded by the bioscience team as they moved to secure the bizarre animal. Eventually pleading to them that something had to be done to help their mate one of the scientists replied rather curtly as he collected the severed tail that the surveyor had already done more than enough damage to the find, directing their attention to the charred hole in the creatures belly. A hole that sat right over the now still bulge of the devoured vulpakin's torso.
Packing up the creature for transport in the bioscience teams transport two events of some import were noticed by the scientists in regard to the subject. First was that the charred hole in the now substantially less bloated creatures belly had already been fully healed. And secondly and most dramatically noted was the regrowth of the severed tail, not with a replica of the detached draconic predecessor, but the large fluffy mass of a vulpakin. Over the comms a brief hushed communique was sent. "Get me the director. We've hit the jackpot. It's a chimera."
Waiting at the main entrance for the transports arrival was the site director, flanked by a full security detail. As the transport rumbled into the opening the director turned to the security chief. "Have the chimera brought to the secure lab. As for the others..." he inclined his head to the now disembarking xeno science team and surviving surveyor. "They may yet be useful. Don't damage them if you don't have to, but I expect this to stay secret." Nodding the chief moved off with his team, some moving to secure the valuable research subject while the others rounded up the team for a promised debriefing. Left alone in thought as the bay doors closed before him the director spoke softly to himself. "Yes, they might still prove quite useful in our research indeed. Pity none of them will ever be able to appreciate it."

Some example names of the species: not aplicable.

Summarize what you know about the species: i know that xenochimera are a strange life form with no set form, that gain traits from the prey they consume.

Play out the following simulated RP scenario (also feel free to alter this, as it is just an example scenario):
Recruiter: "So, tell me about yourself... what was your name again?"
You: ... me is Max..
Recruiter: "Riiiiiiight..." The recruiter scribbles on his notepad, taking down notes. "Tell me about how you came to live on Virgo Prime."
You: ... Max does not remember how Max has come to live on Virgo Prime..
Recruiter: The recruiter nods, hardly making eye contact as he reads off the standard list of questions. "Do you have any past experience working on NanoTrasen stations?"
You: ... Max does not have experience..
Recruiter: He nods again, writing down some notes, or perhaps doodling. It's impossible to tell which. "And what do you think you can bring to the company?"
You: ... Me can bring a friendly face, and max is good with books..
Recruiter: "Very well. Thank you for your time. We will contact you as soon as there is an opening suited for you." The impatient recruiter finally looks up again and waves the applicant along, ready for the next potential new employee.
You: ... Me understand, may Max have snack before Max leave?..

Why do you want to play this species?: i want to try something abnormal compared to the usual acessible species.

What do you expect them to bring to the station's RP by this character being allowed?: a rather fun and interesting librarian for others to come enjoy.

Hmm, neat. Highly unethical but that's a thing that happens in the corporate hellscape that is frontier space. Obviously something that'd have to be kept hushed otherwise there'd be, well, crazy-arrests happening.

Although you are aware that talking in a funny voice isn't a required trait? If they're on an NT colony they'll be at least socialised to human adult level and a librarian of all things is going to have at least some grasp of grammar :p

I am fully aware yes.
In my mind it just seemed to fit in with the back story, and i figured to possibly let max learn better speech patters the more they interact with others.

Alrighty. From a lore issue I can't see anything that really breaks anything - chimera appears on planet roughly around the time explorers arrive there, is found some time after. Probably a couple of decades ago when chimera were still hot news and capturing a live wild specimen would still be a hot new (and valuable) find as opposed to simply breeding one in captivity.
