PastamanVEVO - Plushie synth sleeve

Want to play a Vox? A Diona? A special snowflake former l33t SWAT Spetznas supersoldier failed experiment from Deathkilldie-6? This is where you come to pitch your ideas for everything normally not allowed as characters on the server, so we can mold it into something usable.

PastamanVEVO - Plushie synth sleeve

BYOND Key: PastamanVEVO

What kind of character/language do you want to apply for: Person sized plushie suit that moves via a Morpheus chassis used as an endoskeleton.

Name of Characters In-game: Horner To Auriga (If applicable)

Are they a fan character of another franchise?: No.

If so, what the hell are they doing here?:

How long you've been playing Vorestation: Since late 2022, specifically since the last time RP was in winter.

What is this character's backstory?: Horner left his home planet after becoming dissatisfied with how it was run, joining a few other like minded individuals in taking a ship and going in a random direction until a ship of humans from the Diaspora found them and they eventually wound up in the core systems, where they went their separate ways. They do still keep in contact, though. As for this specific sleeve, he made the Morpheus chassis himself and commissioned the suit with money from his savings account.

If they speak any special languages, why do they speak them?:

What do you expect them to bring to the station's RP by this character being allowed?: I believe it would be fun to have a character around who seems to be magical in nature, but in reality is just creatively applied technology.
Play out the following simulated RP scenario (also feel free to alter this, as it is just an example scenario):
Recruiter: "So, tell me about yourself... what was your name again?"
You: Horner. Just Horner.
Recruiter: "Riiiiiiight..." The recruiter scribbles on his notepad, taking down notes. "Tell me about how you came to live on Virgo Prime."
You: Uh, I just kinda ended up here after completing my robotics degree and found Nanotrasen was hiring.
Recruiter: The recruiter nods, hardly making eye contact as he reads off the standard list of questions. "Do you have any past experience working on NanoTrasen stations?"
You: Before this? No, I haven't even heard of Nanotrasen before taking this job.
Recruiter: He nods again, writing down some notes, or perhaps doodling. It's impossible to tell which. "And what do you think you can bring to the company?"
You: Well, I've got a master's in robotics. I'm sure that could be of help somehow. And I have some experience in piloting.
Recruiter: "Very well. Thank you for your time. We will contact you as soon as there is an opening suited for you." The impatient recruiter finally looks up again and waves the applicant along, ready for the next potential new employee.
You: Yes, uh, thank you.

Why do you want to play this individual?: Regarding this sleeve specifically, Horner sees sleeves as a form of artistic self expression, and this would help him to express the side of him that likes to be big and soft and huggable. Also, he likes the idea of being cared for and loved as a plushie would be, as his parents did not care too much for him due to acting differently than most other members of his species.

Hi there!

Thanks for putting in an SCA before making this character. I've given it a good read and have a few comments on what we need to work on before we can approve it. I'll bullet point them to make them easier for you to address.

  • A person sized plushie isn't something we want a lot of on the station, we want to make sure the person playing it is taking it seriously, which is why we wanted you to do an SCA first. This means we want some solid explanations as to why they exist.
  • I don't really like the nanite part of this, it feels unnecessary when they could just be a synth, especially seeing as we already have nanite tech explained with proteans. They're not a protean, so I advise against making nanites a big part of their "biology".
  • I would like to see you explain the backstory of how they funded and created this body for themselves. That's got to be quite a journey, hasn't it?
  • I would like to see expand on their reasoning for wanting to be person sized plushie. You've mentioned it being artistic expression, but it'd be great to see some of the logic as to how they came to choosing this. I can think of plenty of reasons, and I'm not going to be super strict on it, I just want to see more effort put in here to show that you've really thought about it.
  • As for the "what they bring to the RP" section, I think you should expand on that too. We're less looking for what sort of scenes you'll have, and more about why you think other players would enjoy seeing a person sized plushie walking around, and how you'd make it believable and interesting for them.

Hope you're happy to address these points!

So, having read through the edits that you've made and given this more thought, I've decided that this character no longer needs an SCA.
As it no longer relies on nanites, is clearly not a magical character and you have reasons for them looking like a plushie, I don't think it meets the criteria of needing an SCA anymore.

So, you are welcome to play this character. This SCA isn't approved or denied, just "not needed".
