BYOND Key: Ohx412

How old are you?: 21 years
When you are most active? (including timezone): I am most active on weekends and I play within EST
Roughly how much time do you dedicate to the server each week?: Roughly speaking, I spent around a day's worth of time to the server a week
Names of notable characters you play in Vorestation: Yusko/Candar Ramadwood, Nassa Evenir, Yorizan Akivu
How long have you been playing Space Station 13?: I've been playing SS13 for nearly two years!
How long have you been playing Vorestation?: Vorestation was the first SS13 server I played in, so I was playing in Virgo for nearly two years as well.
Explain what most interests you about being staff: The most interesting part of being staff to me is being able to help set up events for the server and generally make things more interesting on-station.
Explain what you think you will least enjoy about being staff: I believe I will least enjoy having to dedicate a lot more time to the server in order to fulfill my duties as staff, but I am more than able to dedicate the time for it.
Describe what role-playing means to you: Role-playing means to me that you're not playing the game as yourself. You're playing as a character you created, with their own sets of strengths of weaknesses, and their own personality. The challenge and fun in role-playing is you having to react to events, your job, and just regular station stuff through your character's point of view.
Define what a "Problem Player" is in your own words: A problem player to me would be somebody who consistently does things that gives other players a reason to not really interact with them. Other players tend to avoid problem players. But the stuff that problem players do generally do not exactly break the rules, but they might stretch them to the point where they're actually being broken.
Define a "Toxic Player" in your own words: A toxic player to me is somebody who has a bad, aggressive attitude toward other players when they do something that the toxic player disagrees with. Even if it's trival matters. Generally they also have an elitist attitude and may break server rules in the way they talk down to other players.
Define "Admin Abuse" in your own words: Admin abuse is when staff members knowingly use their powers and privileges to earn an unfair advantage against other players. They may aheal themselves, others, or toggle god-mode when involved in combat. They may also use Variables to disclose the contents of containers to gain an advantage, or they may aghost with the goal to gain metaknowledge of what other players are doing.
In your opinion, what the biggest problem with the server right now?: Right now, the biggest problem to me is the lack of dedicated events on the server. Things like pred/prey ships and casinos aren't really a thing on this server anymore.
How would you have it resolved?: I would work with other staff and/or players to plan and setup events, and attempt to get as many participants for these events as possible.

Go through the following scenarios and state how you would deal with it...
  • An adminhelp comes in claiming an individual is griefing.
How I'd handle it: I would immediately aghost and teleport to the individual who was reported to be griefing. As I observe, I will also ask the person who ahelped to give me an explanation as to why they believe the individual is griefing. If the person seems to be acting suspicious in their actions, I would also PM them and ask what they are doing. Once I get all the information I needed, including variable checking to confirm testimonies, then I will act accordingly and write a note down. If the individual is blatantly griefing, then I would stop them by toggling paralysis and continuing with the investigation and deciding on a punishment.
  • A player is upset about a scenario, but they are clearly in the wrong.
How I'd handle it: I would try to explain to the player why they are wrong, and that they should deal with the results from said scenario. If they still disagree with me, then I would suggest talking to another admin to get a second opinion. But for the time being they still need to deal with whatever they got from the scenario.
  • When interviewing several individuals, one is lying but you cannot tell who it is.
How I'd handle it: I would try my best to gather evidence using in-game means. Variable checking, attack logs, admin logs, and all other means of gathering information will definitely help me detect any inconsistencies from any of the involved.
  • After interviewing several individuals, you have a pretty good idea of who is lying, but still lack concrete, infallible proof. Despite your best efforts, some details remain ambiguous. What now?
How I'd handle it: I would try to reach out to another admin, explain the situation and the decision I have made as well as any punishment that will be handed out if it came down to that. Then I would ask what they would recommend me doing instead. If no other admin is present, then I will take the risk and settle on my decision, and inform the involved people to talk to other staff if they disagree with it.
  • An individual is playing a character who has sparked several adminhelps regarding said individual, but they are not in any clear violation of the rules.
How I'd handle it: I would observe the individual and look over any previous notes that they might have gotten. If they are acting in a way that can be resolved IC, then I would let them be. But I will also leave a note on them.
  • Multiple character deaths have occurred and you are attempting to investigate. One player exhibits poor role-playing skills combined with insulting all those involved, another rushed after trouble started and only used lethal force, and a third went on and attacked several other individuals after the first fight was finished.
How I'd handle it: I would immediately paralyze the third player to prevent them from attacking any more people, and focus on investigating why the first player is playing so poorly and why the second one was rushing in when they did. After gathering all the information I needed, then I would deal punishments accordingly and leave behind notes.

What prior admin/moderator/management experience do you possess, if any?: I am a retired admin on Chompstation, and I moderated that server for around 6 months. I was also a moderator on the Chompstation's Discord for two years and a half.

Finally, what unique aspects of yourself can you bring to the staff? What can you bring to the team that is, in your opinion, needed?: I think I can bring some initiative to get events going for the staff and server. I have set up many events on Chompstation before, and I believe I have the experience needed to host events on Vorestation.

Nodu is a very level-headed, fun and active player of the community. I don't think we've ever had an issue with them and they have the right mindset to help out in the community as an admin.

Support.

Dont get me wrong, but I think the position of GameMaster might fit better. Beecause that seems to be your main focus/interest; Events!

That's true! But I believe admins are also able to host events too. While I like to focus on events, I also understand that I must also focus on enforcing rules and dealing with ahelps even more.

Well, it ain't about that you must. It's about if you have an interest! If you prefer to put your interests in managing events, I'd recommend GM. But, if you wish to combine your time into both dealing with drama and doing events. Then stick with admin. :P

Of course of course! During my course of being an admin of Chompstation, I had to deal with both drama while having to organize events. I am more than willing to enforce rules and write notes as my primary duty while also organizing events as my secondary duty. And I have plenty of experience doing both!

An admin app that actually mentions leaving notes in the "what would you do" questions. Yes.
