Fire Break - Perma ban appeal

Postby Nightshadow » Sun Sep 29, 2024 7:57 pm

Byond account and character name: Fire Break

Discord ID (if applicable): Nightshadow

Banning admin: Demi

Ban type (What are you banned from?): Discord/Server

Ban reason given: "harassing people on discord and being a general blight on the server"

Ban length: Perma

Approximate date that the ban was placed (including time zone): 01/07/2022 (time unknown, was offline at the time)

Your side of the story: Though my side of the story has been discussed several times, from what I remember, the issue was me being a difficult person to deal with from staff and from causing grief to a specific player

Why you think you should be unbanned: I think I should be unbanned because, well, it has been a long time. I have been doing other things with my life, playing other servers, which have given me experience and insight on how to properly play SS13 and interact with people, and have changed a fair bit in the last two years.
I have sat back a bit and have thought about the things I had done on the server. I have thought of the people who I have interacted with, and, I can see very much how I was generally harmful to the server. I realize that I had made mistakes and that the people who I caused grief were not appreciative of what I had done. I don't intend on making the mistakes I did in the past, and want to show that I am different than what I was when I was banned from the server.
I know that the issues I caused tarnished my image greatly and giving me another chance is a tall order, though I do believe I have changed.
I realize it probably doesn't need to be said, but, truly I am sorry for what I had done. I take full ownership of my mistakes and I want to correct them. I hope that I am given the chance to show how I have changed and how I am different than I was previously.

Discussion on this is currently ongoing, but we notice you mentioned that you've been playing on other servers. What servers have you been playing on?

So far I have played on a few servers. I played a large amount on SPLURT, though was told later that it was 'invalid for a reference' previously. I had been trying other servers, specifically bubber and Nova sector, though the issue I have had with them is that I wouldn't be able to best cooperate with the constant flow of antag players, which would cause problems. More recently, I have been playing on Chompstation again, which was the first SS13 server I had played on.

Alright, we collectively decided to deny this, but I will give a little context as to why. We did make sure to followup with some of the serves you mentioned. Chomp, for instance, let us know you had been permabanned there twice and have been being a general nuisance there besides. What we're seeing isn't improvement, it's a pattern. You're migrating to other servers that you've been long banned on, appealing since its been a while, and getting in since most people have forgotten about you and are willing to give you another chance after so long. We don't want to perpetuate that pattern, because you're not really improving on the reasons you're getting banned from everywhere so often. We fear what will happen is you'll come back here for a few months, wind up banned again, and migrate elsewhere once more in this holding pattern.

What you need to do is change, genuinely and truly. We're never going to accept an appeal in any length of time until we see genuine evidence of changing for the better. You need to be on a reputable server for a meaningful length of time and they need to attest to your behavior being good and not causing issues. Until then, please don't keep firing an appeal every few months expecting us to have changed our minds on you. We won't, we'll immediately deny it. I wish you luck on improving, genuinely, but this isn't the platform to do it on.
