well now I have an idea for how you can.
first off you can not hack a standard PDA, you must find a disable or blank one (PDA venders?)

the hackable PDA's would look like this.
as you can see all lights on them are off, to hack them first you need to open them to do this you need wire cutters and pliers.
step one: use wire cutters to open
step two remove the PDA's main circuit with the pliers
step three depends on how you want to hack it, right now there are 3 concept hacks. one of which can be done in tandem to the other two the other two are incompatible.
(the three chosen are ones I know that can be done)
hack: ALL ID
to do
step one remove ID reader chip
process
1. use welder on circuit: you remove the welds on the ID reader
2. use pliers on circuit: you remove the ID reader
3. use wires on circuit: you place wires to bypass the fail safe (this step can be skipped but will alert sec if you use it to open ANY thing)
4. use multi tool on circuit: you program the ID reader to [job] (cycles jobs through list)
that is all.
EFFECT: gives access to any doors for the job picked, though can not give access to head only areas and captain only area's as they are 100% coded onto the ID. (as to prevent some one hacking an PDA and going into the bridge)
passage hackable: chef, doctor, miner, engineer, science tech, xeno biology, librarian. (no others)
hack: overload
process
1. place battery on circuit: you place a battery on the circuit
2. use welder on circuit: you weld the battery to the circuit
3. use wire on circuit: you wire the battery to the main proccesing chip
that is it
effect: if flashlight it turned on the PDA will detonate injuring the user to near critical state and scorching the ground. also wounds thoughs near by when it goes off.
note: this is more useful to syndicate users as a last resort, as it only harms the user and barely hurts thoughs around.
hack: tracking
prcess
1. place tracking implant on circuit
2. use welder on circuit: you weld the tracking implant in place
3. use wires on circuit: you wire the tracking implant to run off the PDA's power.
that is it
effect: same as a tracking implant or suit tracker, only shows the PDA's location not the user... good for when you want to track some one, with out them "knowing"
once you place the hacks on the circuit you need to replace the circuit there are two ways to do this.
way one
1. use circuit on open PDA: you replace the circuit
2. use wires on PDA: you rewire the circuit
3. use welder on PDA: you weld teh circuit back in
4. use any battery item on PDA: you recharge the PDA
result
note: this way gives an obvious hacked PDA, the name will be hacked PDA even if all the person did is remove the chip and replace it.
way two

3. use metal on PDA: you restructure the case on the PDA
4. use welder on PDA: you weld the case shut on the PDA
result
to turn on in this way you must recharge the PDA at a weapon charging point. once done it will look like a normal PDA
