Heaven and Hell are instead a pair of binary planets. We assume these civilizations have existed for much longer than humanity has. Their technology is advanced, but modern (year 2560) technology has caught up to them so when they do "miracles" it's just existing technology that we know about. Like, turning water into wine? Pfft, it's just a chem synthesizer with a wine producing molecular configuration. Nothing special. Walking on water? Bitch, do you know what repulsorlifts are? You get the idea.

I propose that one planet is "Heaven" where both the main species are born. The "Hell" is actually a slightly smaller world in the binary planet system where the somewhat racist government of the "Heaven" planet sends dissidents. The "Hell" planet is inhabitable if not for mining colonies and biodomes.

Back in antiquity, these species stumbled on the human race and decided to abduct a couple of them to fuck with and put them in a biodome of their own on the "Heaven" planet. The subject Eve escaped the biodome and accessed another biodome where they were working on a GMO experiment with some alien fruit, and the bitch ate it, ruining the experiment. Pissed off, they deported both the male and female back to Earth and pretty much just dumped their asses in the desert.

Notable characters include Lucifer Morningstar, who these days runs a strip club on Virgo Prime. :P

So... does this mean hell is space australia? And demons for the most part have australian accents?

Also... Can we get a bit more in-depth as to how racist the Heaven Gov. is? Like... Just how much of a dystopia are they? And what about Hell? Why have humans produced ancient texts depicting eternal torment and hellfire?

The Dystopia style would be something that looks like a Utopia on the surface, but the longer you stay, the more twisted and fucked up it starts to seem to you.

to be fair, Thomas more's Utopia literally used slave labour as the explanation for how the dirty/dangerous jobs all got done, thus allowing the citizens to have their "just do what you want to do as a job and leave the produce out for whoever needs it to take" society. Oh, and travel within the country was forbidden without an official document (sound familiar?) and would land you as one of the slaves if you got caught.

So, uh.... yeah. Utopia is pretty much that by non-16th-century standards :p

Okay, but in what way? Implications of slavery? Is the high-class living just smoke and mirrors and that's only what you're /allowed/ to see? Like North Korea in The Interview (FAKE GRAPEFRUITS), Is the government relying heavily on censoring and silencing any groups that they deem threatening to the establishment? That kind of thing.

And would the problems be common knowledge?

I'm thinking more of a class divide scenario than North Korea cardboard cutout utopia to hide the fuckery.

I was thinking something along the lines of the caste, ie. The religious leaders are at the top.

Maybe the top caste'd be "Divines"
